The Craziest Deep Fakes That Will Make You Question Reality

6 April, 2021 by Sahar Ajjab

Youtube

Since people began to learn to use photoshop properly we have seen photo montages of all kinds. From putting your face on your pet, to “riding” in a luxury car with Kanye West. However, manipulating videos has always been more complicated to do, since it’s hard to hide the truth on video tape. Or at least, that’s what we thought! Now, with the new technique of deep fakes, we are doomed. Do not believe it? We show you some deep fakes that seem so real you won’t even believe it!

Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr. And Tom Holland

Hollywood’s best-known action star Iron Man and Spider-Man are not without deep fakes. Although, luckily, for them, it is made clear that they are not their real faces. Yet, many people have fallen for it. And honestly, it can easily seem like it’s actually Cruise who is speaking in the interview.

Mark Zuckerberg And Donald Trump

The Ex-President (much to his regret) of the United States has also been “immortalized” in one of these deep fakes. In his case “being” Saul Goodman, the lawyer for Walter White and Jeese Pinkman in “Breaking Bad.” Worst? That hits home perfectly.

Mark Zuckerberg, on the other hand, the only time he was “edited” was through in a speech of his. Obviously, the work consisted of changing his words in the smoothest way! So, if we think about it, deep fakes are actually quite scary and can cause harm to others.

Jim Carrey, Will Smith And Stallone

Jim Carrey has incredible control of his face, as he has shown many, many times. However, this “imitation” of Jack Nicholson in “The Shining” is nothing but a deep fake. (Although we would’ve loved for it to be real.)

Will Smith, meanwhile, had the opportunity to be Neo in “The Matrix.” A role that, finally, would fall on Keanu Reeves. However, thanks to the magic of deep fakes we can see how a young Smith could have been the perfect fit of The Chosen One.

Friends Fight Fear Sleeping In Most Dangerous Bed In The World

26 September, 2019 by Taylor Swift

When trying to attain those coveted 8 hours of sleep, most people’s ideal sleeping conditions are in a bed, maybe with some comforters and extra pillows thrown into the mix. But for Thomas Brag and Ammar Kandil, sleeping in a bed is boring. That’s why the creators of “Yes Theory” decided to fight their fear and do what most would consider a nightmare. They slept overnight in a hammock suspended between two cliffs, in what can only be considered “the most dangerous bed in the world.”

Highine bed, one to really fight your fear.

“Fear is a Mental Muscle”

The duo decided to create a video that followed their thrilling, borderline crazy decision to sleep in a hammock over a plunging valley below. “Overnight on the most dangerous bed in the world!!” was uploaded to their YouTube Channel Yes Theory this past week. Their channel focuses on taking different adventures that push them out of their comfort zone. In this video in particular, they began by speaking about fear and its power over us.

“Fear is a mental muscle that needs regular attention. If you don’t actively seek to safely challenge it, it will eventually take control of your life. So today we’re going to the mental gym.”

Company Joins In The Dangerous Adventure

To complete this adventure, Thomas and Ammar decided to invite their friend Max Rantz-McDonald as well as a highlining expert, Ryan Robinson. Highlining involves walking on a “1 inch thick rope between two mountains” with absolutely zero net to catch you underneath. Truly insane in our opinion!

BD Athlete Ryan Robinson now co-holds the record for the longest highline walked in the United States! 880 meters/2,900 feet long, 700 feet down!! pic.twitter.com/q2E3Geod6T

— Black Diamond (@BlackDiamond) November 20, 2018

Robinson joined them to help the three men properly hang the hammocks to best avoid injury. After this fine material was hung, the three friends settled in for the night. They were about as comfortable as one can expect to be while hanging at a height that some would consider a death wish. Not only did vertigo fears arise, but soon the three had to brace the natural elements of wind, thunder and rain.

Caving In To The Fear

Despite all intents, Thomas was unable to make it through the night, with his vertigo fears forcing him to return to ground after only a few hours. The other two however toughed it out all the way to morning. Their smiles and pride were undeniable as they carefully pulled their way back to land to reunite in a hug with their pal.

It was a true testament to pushing through the mental block. The video itself has been watched almost 1.5 million times since its upload, serving as an inspiration for all to fight their own fears.

No Aliens, But One Special Visitor At Area 51

23 September, 2019 by Taylor Swift

One of the most anticipated Facebook Events of the year finally came this past weekend. “Storm Area 51” began as a joke online (“they can’t stop us all”), yet quickly became a global sensation. The event for September 20-22 had over 2 million people “attending” on the Facebook event online. In reality only a few thousand people attended “Alienstock” to get their chance at an alien sighting this past weekend, which sadly never occurred. Nevertheless, one attendee did make the weekend a memorable one by interrupting a news report with his Naruto run.

What is “Storm Area 51”?

“Storm Area 51” was created on Facebook back in June by Matty Roberts. The comedic concept was to have as many people “storm” the United States Air Force Training Facility, famous for alien sightings. This event got so much publicity, that they decided to create a music festival called “Alienstock“ in the small town of Rachel, Nevada. The logistics were not well planned however, and no one truly broke into the facility. People who did come for the event however enjoyed an out-of-this-world time! Some attendees even brought fake protest signs, dressed up in shiny and green gear, and bonded over their communal love for aliens.

How Do They Storm Area 51?

As stated previously, the event was both poorly planned and, when it comes down to it, one big fat joke. Roberts suggested that everyone enter the facility by running like “Naruto,” a famous Japanese anime character who runs with his head down and arms behind him.

While no one successfully entered, one guy dubbed “the plunger man” (whose real name is Gary Winthorpe), did manage to get the closest with some fellow attendees. They all charged toward the barricade in Naruto style, only to quickly get stopped by military.

I dragged myself out into the freezing cold desert at 3 a.m. to watch a guy with a plunger lead less than a dozen people into storming area 51

— morgan sung (@morgan_sung) September 21, 2019

Winthorpe told the local Fox5, “We came out here to raid Area 51 and find the truth about what they’re hiding. We don’t know if it’s aliens, we don’t know if it’s time travel, we don’t know if there’s minions in there.”

News Reporters Get’s A Naruto Backdrop

That wasn’t the last of the Naruto runs of the weekend. The most famous-and now viral- example came during a news report. During the middle of KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas‘ coverage of the event, one attendee slyly swooped behind reporter Joe Bartel in Naruto-like fashion.

The image soon became a viral video on Twitter, with people claiming this lone runner to be the true hero of this extraterrestrial-less weekend.

Jimmy Fallon and Kate Upton Boogie Back To The 80s

20 August, 2019 by Taylor Swift

Jimmy Fallon is known for providing us plenty of belly laughs with his crazy videos with guest stars on The Tonight Show. Never one to back down a challenge, he and his recent guest Kate Upton decided to take on old 80s dance moves. The duo made sure to dress the part as they copied dances from aerobic videos in this hilarious video.

80s Fitspiration

In the age of Social Media, many individuals have earned a blue check next to their name with fitness instagram accounts. Millions of people follow fitness trainers like Kayla Itsines and Jeanette Jenkins to attempt their heart-pumping workout routines. While it might seem a modern concept, getting in a sweat session to workout videos was a fad that took off in the 80s. Jazzercise and other dance workouts by 80s legends such as Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons were sure to get their audience moving in a colorful, crazy way. What better way to commemorate these memorable exercises than through a joint aerobic dance challenge?

A Color Coordinated Duo

Jimmy Fallon and Kate Upton in bright 80s clothing.

If it’s one thing that stands out about fashion from the 80s, its the bright colors. Jimmy Fallon and Kate Upton knew they couldn’t properly recreate an 80s aerobic dance challenge without an outfit that suited. The two were decked out in headbands, leotards, scrunchies, and leggings of all different colors and prints that made viewers take an instant trip back in time.

A Modern Day Twist

Jimmy performing an 80s move that looks like a modern day dab.

The dance moves that the two performed were beyond ridiculous. It’s no wonder these didn’t make it to the 21st century! However, there were some similarities to some of the dance fads of today. Upton at one point commented, “That’s kind of like the Eighties version of the dab.” After their individual routines, the two then joined forces to attempt some partner routines. In reality there should have been a “don’t try this at home” warning, for some moves just looked outright dangerous! This challenge is definitely not for those who are lacking in the coordination department.

80s Flashdance

Naturally, Fallon and Upton’s routine could not truly be complete without attempting the famous “Flashdance” scene, even using real water. Upton, being a professional model, knew exactly how to pose her body for the scene. Whereas Jimmy... well he tried.

We Are “Obsessed” With This Crying And Dancing TikTok

1 August, 2019 by Taylor Swift

There seems to be no end to the TikTok masterpieces that leave us in a state of both laughter and confusion. The most recent to hit the top of the charts and start a viral meme is a video by TikTok user @ReeseHardy_. In the video, the teen girl is crying, for reasons unknown, while performing a dance to the song “Obsessed” by Mariah Carey.

Behind The “Obsessed” Dance

While everyone (I repeat, EVERYONE) was left in a state of confusion as to why Reese is dancing while crying, we do have some answers to the dance itself. Turns out the dance wasn’t original, but rather part of the #obsessed dance challenge that was circling on TikTok at the time. One of the most ironic parts might be the fact many of the users who have participated in the challenge, weren’t old enough to even appreciate the song when it first released in 2009. We’re not complaining about the comeback though, this song was truly iconic.

The Crying Rise To Fame

people holding signs that say different social media activities, like share like and tweet, for the crying girl video.

Reese Hardy’s profile on TikTok was not famous before this video spread like wildfire. Since it’s publication on July 13th, the video has gained more than 1.6 million likes and thousands of comments. What made it grow even faster was the video’s share on the twitter account, “Cursed Tik Toks.” The tweet received over 134k likes and almost 30,000 retweets. More importantly, it started a meme caption contest for this hilarious yet uncomfortable video. The following are some of the best responses.

Struggling At The Club

We’ve all had at least one night out when we forced ourselves through the exhaustion to support our friends, yet would do just about anything to be back at home in the comfort of our beds.

Simba’s Sobbing Pride

In perfect timing with the recent release of The Lion King remake, this caption almost makes us feel guilty for laughing out loud at the poor cub’s loss.

Apology Unaccepted

Reese Hardy had zero intention of getting all the attention for this video. In fact, she apologized on her TikTok account for her crying and dancing display, saying “this started as a joke, i’m sorry guys.” Regardless, we’re glad she provided us the laughs this summer.

The #WaterGunChallenge Will Soak Your Summer

30 July, 2019 by Taylor Swift

This summer has brought us numerous new challenges, such as the #bottlecapchallenge. With the extreme heat breaking records in many countries, it’s time someone came up with a challenge that helped cool us off. The solution? The #WaterGunChallenge, which involves carrying two loaded water guns while walking around town, and then passing one to a random person on the street and see if their up for the battle.

Inspiration For The #WaterGunChallenge

The #WaterGunChallenge was created and filmed by three friends in Richmond, Virginia. The inspiration for the video and challenge was fairly simple. As stated on their Youtube channel, GET UP & GET IT;

ready to battle in the #watergunchallenge as he waits to see if the stranger will join him.

“It was mad hot. So we bought 2 water guns, filled them up, and walked up to people & tossed them one…just to see if they were down for a quick water gun fight….lets see what happened!”

A Slow Start For The #WaterGunChallenge

At first, not many people were down for the #WaterGunChallenge. The trio walked around many parts of the city, egging people to pick up the water gun, only to be denied. Individuals seemed to be skeptical and unamused, or simply incapable like the little dog on a walk. However, the tag team was determined to not give up. In fact, they RAN UP!

still image from the youtube video, saying "We Didn't Give Up, WE RAN UP!!!!"

Running Up The Fun

Once the three guys started running to their potential challengers, it did seem to have a positive effect. People were more motivated to at least pick up the super soakers. It could have been out of pity due to the slight appearance of desperation on the faces of the trio… But regardless, once people started to pick up the water guns, the fun truly began!

Can’t Stop The Feeling

The smiles while battling were undeniable, and this #WaterGunChallenge really created a feel good moment for everyone involved. Even if we as viewers were not able to take part in the soaking action, the music added to the fun. “Can’t Stop The Feeling” by Justin Timberlake is an instant mood boosting summer song.

If you weren’t smiling throughout, the ending was sure to give you some laughs, as an older man walking down the street joyously joined the fun. He even got the camera man! While it did seem like it was all simply fun and games, there was an ultimate lesson that the group wanted to share: Stay Hydrated. Oh, and get ready for a part 2 coming soon…
