Teleworking From Home With Kids? Your Guideline To Survival

13 May, 2020 by Sahar Ajjab

Quarantine is about spending time with your loved ones, right? However, it’s not always easy, especially if you are teleworking. In fact, after a couple of months, some parents teleworking from home with kids just had enough. We went through hilarious social media posts, to find you this guideline to survival. So, if you don’t know what to do with your kids when you need to work, here are few (brilliant) ideas to help you not go too crazy.

Give Them Something To Do

Yes, with just a few virtual classes (or no classes at all), poor kids must be getting bored. Creative parents shared their magic recipes on the internet. In fact, while teleworking all day, parents hardly have time to spend with their children during the day. Therefore, give them tasks that can increase their productivity, critical thinking and sense of responsibility. Here are a few ideas to help you get your children to behave.

Let Them Play

In addition to teaching them something new everyday, let them have some fun as well. Furthermore, we understand that the struggle is real, since they want you to play with them, right? No worries, some parents found ”modern solutions to modern problems.” And, if you need a quick nap, tell your kids to draw you while you sleep, and the best drawing gets a prize. Pretty darn smart, no?

Using my tears to clean the crusted green paint speckled all over our house. #kidsaretheworst I didn’t post this on Wednesday when it happened because it was NOT funny yet. #art #no #washyourhands Update: There was a 1-ft wide trail of green paint around our entire island. The majority of the paint was cleaned up but it is still on the couch seams and floor cracks and random places we’ve washed but haven’t rewashed yet. Thank you for all the good vibes sent our way. ?

Keep Them Busy

If you’re teleworking from home with kids, and none of the solutions above work, then you must keep them busy somehow. It’s important to teach your kids discipline and respecting limits this quarantine. You can do that simply by letting them breathe some fresh air in the yard, or ”playing” with them without stopping your work.

Give Yourself A Break

Finally, the main coping mechanism while teleworking from home with kids, is to take it easy. It’s okay, really! It’s normal to get frustrated from time to time. But, remember, that your kids have probably never been happier, being able to see their parents 24/7. So, do what you gotta do, and cherish this time with them, as you may never get the chance to do it again.
