2021, a year we’ve waited for impatiently. Well, technically we were waiting for 2020 to end, with all the ”horrible” events it brought us. However, this New Year may not be exactly the best. In fact, it’s only the first week, and we already have things we need to seriously talk about.
If you remember, 2020 started with few strange events as well, and ended..well, we all know how it ended. First, there were the devastating fires in Australia, the heat wave, then a few shocking deaths, and eventually, a pandemic that changed our lives. This year though, some positive changes are in the horizon, while others are just shocking. Here is a recap of the major events that happened so far in 2021!
Floods Everywhere
Of course, winter couldn’t have started better! While last year we enjoyed the lovely weather and sunshine(almost everywhere in the world,) it was a wake up call for us regarding climate change.
In 2021, this is still an important issue for the world, especially with the heavy rain and snowfall. In fact, this January, it has snowed in some big cities like Paris and Madrid for the first time in 10 years.
Temperature Plunges
Snowfall and rain are always a synonym to cold. Temperatures have reportedly plunged everywhere, reaching some of its lowest ever in some areas like Beijing in China. This is not alarming, but it does indicate why we should be taking more action for our planet, and investing in fighting climate change.
Far-Right Riots In The US
Donald Trump has been alleging that the US elections this past November were falsified. Of course, this led to many of his supporters to believe that Joe Biden is an ”unconstitutional” elected president. However, no one was expecting them to organize violent manifestations and riots. In fact, thousands of far-right supporters stormed the Capitol Hill building in DC, and temporarily paralyzed the congress session voting for Biden’s official election. This led to a rise of concern in the US, which will clearly have a challenging year ahead.
Bye-Bye Trump!
On January 20th, the United states as well as the rest of the world, will welcome a new presidency. As Democrat Joe Biden takes office, a lot of people will be relieved. In fact, the fall of Donald Trump has been viewed worldwide as the beginning of the end of the far-right wing’s reign in the world. Moreover, this change tarting in the ”most powerful” country, is expected to lead to a wave of changes in the rest of the world as well.
