The challenge to flip a bottle and make it land upright is soooo amateur compared to this latest bottle challenge, which requires a whole lot of athletic coordination. Known as the #BottleCapChallenge, it has taken social media by storm with celebrities like Jason Statham getting over 5 million likes and 16 million views for his contribution on Instagram.
What exactly is the #BottleCapChallenge?
As evidenced in Statham’s video above, the #BottleCapChallenge involves spinning in a full 360 degrees before kicking one’s leg up just lightly enough to hit the cap off, but not enough to knock the entire bottle over. Many people have recorded their challenges in slow-mo to enhance the full mesmerizing and impressive effect.
Who started the challenge?
It is unclear who originated the official challenge, but several sources believe the viral trend could have started with Taekwondo champion Farabi Davletchin. Last week, he posted this video to Instagram with the caption #farakickschallenge, calling on Statham and other celebrities to take part.
Who else has participated in the #BottleCapChallenge?
So far, there are over 50,000 videos uploaded on Instagram with the #BottleCapChallenge from around the world. In addition to Statham, some other very notable celebrities have participated in the challenge, including but not limited to John Mayer, Scott Adkins, and Conor McGregor. We are especially impressed by Mayer’s performance, considering sports are not really his forte.
Spinning Onto The Scene
This challenge spun onto the scene thanks to celebrities encouraging others to partake in the challenge. As a result, people internationally took to the hashtag and uploaded their own versions, some even while blindfolded! While it may not get you any awards, successfully executing the #BottleCapChallenge is sure to impress your friends and followers.
