Spider-Man Explaining To Zendaya Meme

27 July, 2019 by Taylor Swift

After recently becoming the top grossing film in history, The Avengers: Endgame served as the impressive culmination to the 21 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that left big shoes to fill. With 10 Marvel films set to be released in the next two years as part of the 4th phase, fans are already keen about the development of many beloved characters, like Spider-Man. Fans were in for a treat when director Jon Watts shared this candid behind-the-scenes picture of Tom Holland and Zendaya.

Behind-The-Scenes Inspiration From Spider-Man

In the photo, we see Tom Holland dressed in his Spider-Man suit, leaning over as if explaining something to Zendaya. The actress’ face reads a mixture of distress and irritation. The photo has since been deleted from Watts’ Instagram story, but not before one Tumblr user peternedmj screenshot the image and shared to his account.

Spider-Man Explaining To Zendaya: A Meme Is Born

Soon after, Tom Holland himself shared a cropped version of the image on his Instagram. This sparked what would soon turn into the meme: “Spider-Man Explaining To Zendaya.” The creative combinations that people posted to Reddit are legendary, dealing with all sorts of topics needing to be explained. Here to share some of the very best of the bunch.

Tinder Regrets

Spider-man explaining to Zendaya meme focused on tinder.

We absolutely FEEL for Zendaya in this meme. Nothing is more agonizing and uncomfortable than feeling obligated to sit through a date with someone you really didn’t want to meet in the first place. Corny pick-up lines make this moment a hundred times more painful, we don’t care what you look like behind the mask, Spider-Man!

That Song Whose Lyrics You Forgot

Spider-man explaining to Zendaya meme.

How frustrating is it when you have a song stuck in your head, yet you literally remember zero of the lyrics? This meme perfectly represents how ridiculous we look (and how clueless our supposedly-all-knowing search engine is). With Shazam still inadequate for recognizing our miserable humming attempts, Google is our only hope. If you actually are able to find the song, serious congrats.

Storming Area 51

This version of the meme was keeping with the times, as people all around the world took to social media to talk about their summer plans to storm Area 51. Parents, you need not be concerned!

The New “Cats” Trailer Is The Creepiest Thing We’ve Seen

20 July, 2019 by Taylor Swift

There was a lot of anticipation surrounding the new musical film production of “Cats” given big names like Taylor Swift, James Corden and Jason Derulo are part of the starring performers. However, the latest trailer released by Universal this week has instantly turned off many people from the possibility of going to see the movie when it releases in December. The reason? It’s downright creepy.

A Historic Success

The problem isn’t the storyline. In fact, “Cats” is based on a Tony-Award winning musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It was one of the longest running shows on Broadway at 18 years and its songs have been referenced in other films and productions, such as the famous audition scene in “School of Rock.”

Where The New “Cats” Went Wrong

With a killer cast and world-class dancers, the movie was set to be a hit. Until… the trailer came out. Instead of using the classic costumes worn in the Broadway version, the director Tom Hooper decided to try a CGI alternative. The result was creepy digital fur that made the human actors look like like were from another planet.

A Lack Of Pawsitivity On Twitter

People were quick to share their critical responses on Twitter, noting for example the absurd uncomfortable feeling we have seeing naked, yet not naked people-cats running around everywhere.

somehow the people in Cats look more nude than if they were actually nude, and it's weird as hell. pic.twitter.com/vw8vtsIAUa

Sexist Depictions Of The Cats?

Some criticized that this “nude” version that mimicked the bodies of their human actors actually made them look overtly sexual. Part of this is due to the nature of the musical itself. It does have sexual themes (you can infer, we ARE talking cats here). And yet, Hooper’s version goes one step further. And viewers couldn’t help but notice that this was primarily seen only in the female cats…

Size Matters

Others were more upset at the logistical aspects of the film, such as the miniature size of the “cats.”

Musical Or Horror Film?

The best take might be from Ian Abramson, who paired the “Us”  music to the “Cats” trailer. Jordan Peele even retweeted the creation in agreement, as it truly evokes the uneasiness we all were feeling.

Yes. https://t.co/xyittLIaA9

The movie doesn’t release until December, so only time will tell if this musical film will end up being a box office hit or a serious fur pas.

How To Fail A First Impression: The Bachelor Australia

2 July, 2019 by Taylor Swift

Whether you are a die hard “The Bachelor” fan, or simply tune in every once in awhile for the latest drama happening among the contestants, this latest clip from “The Bachelor Australia” will make you feel IMMEDIATE second-hand embarrassment.

The (In)famous Bachelor Introductions

Regardless of what country’s version you watch, there is always the (in)famous introductions episode. During this premiere, we get to meet the main Bachelor as well as all the numerous singletons vying for a shot at *true love.* How someone manages to fall in love in 2 months time complete with constant cameras around them is beyond me.

Lasting First Impressions

As with any first encounter with a stranger, there are always some people that leave long, lasting impressions… This was the case with contestant Abby, but for all the wrong reasons. Her less than stellar response to learning Bachelor Matt Agnew’s profession has been the source of many tweets.

We can’t blame Matt for being at a loss for words with that one! There is a very big difference between astronomy and astrology, but clearly that fact was way over Abby’s head.

Her not so lucky stars…

It got us thinking though, how important is this first impression anyway in winning over someone’s affection? According to Refinery29, 59% of men and 49% of women believe in love at first sight. This is combined with the incredible fact that we typically make full assessments of a person we first meet in under a second’s time. This includes personality, attractiveness, likability, and more. Matt might have checked all the boxes on Abby’s list, but from his response, we don’t think she made quite as great of an impression.

Needless to say, we don’t think Abby will be getting that coveted rose in the end. Plus, an Aries and a Leo? There was no way this relationship was written in the stars!

Toy Story 4 Proves Pixar’s Animation Has Improved Dramatically

27 June, 2019 by Taylor Swift

The heart warming story of our beloved Woody and Buzz finally comes to a close with the recent release of Toy Story 4. People of all ages have been able to enjoy this friendship that has blossomed the past 24 years, since the original movie’s release in 1994. But the unlikely relationship between a cowboy and astronaut isn’t the only thing that grew over the years- Pixar’s animation has improved dramatically, as seen in this new video released by Insider.

The Process Behind The Amazing Animation Advancements

Just comparing the fur of the animals in Toy Story and Toy Story 4 are staggering in itself. The dog looks completely flat in the original, whereas each strand of the cat’s fur in the recent release appears to glimmer in the light. However, what is most interesting about the improvement in design is both the research involved and the timing of events that took place in order to master realistic-looking animation.

This video breaks down the learning and creation process behind the 21 feature-length animation movies made by Pixar since 1995, and some of the facts are mind-blowing. As audience members, we take for granted the amount of effort that is put into even just a few seconds worth of some scenes in animation films. However, with statistics like one scene with Hank the octopus taking two years alone to create in Finding Dory– it’s no wonder it took 13 YEARS for the sequel of Finding Nemo to come out!

A Methodical Order To The Movies

Another fascinating detail discussed in the video is the order for making the animation movies. Many movies with few humans at all, like Monsters, Inc. were chosen to be created because they still hadn’t mastered creating realistic-looking humans back in 2001. The greatest improvement has come from Pixar’s research into using light. Now they successfully can make light reflecting in water, on metal, on skin, etc. The changes are obvious when looking at Andy in the first Toy Story movie to now!

Knowing all the work involved will surely make you enjoy the final Toy Story that much more!
