Amazing Tweets That Reached The 200k Retweet Elite

8 August, 2019 by Taylor Swift

Celebrities can easily nab thousands of retweets just for their star status alone. But when one of us *commoners* makes a tweet that gets hundreds of thousands of likes and retweets, that is a TRULY impressive feat. We decided to round up some of our favorite amazing and hilarious tweets from the past two years that reached the retweet elite.

Retweet For Safety!

You can truly never go wrong with puppies in a tweet. This girl shared her adorable pupster taking safety precautions, and naturally we had to hit retweet. You know, just in case your followers needed a safety reminder or an instant cuteness boost in the day!

My sister snapped me this, but I feel like it deserves to be seen by so many more ? pic.twitter.com/p5QqXgjVPt

An Unbeatable Wifi Password

Ever go to a friend’s house and ask for the wifi password, only to be in shock at the complexity of it? It’s even more agonizing when you have to retype it a seemingly hundred times just for it to be correct. This guy felt that with this… strange and inexplicable tweet from Grammy and Oscar Winner Lady Gaga. Maybe she was warming up her vocal chords?

“what’s your WiFi password”

“It’s on the back of the router”

They Say Love Don’t Cost A Thing…

There are times you should shoot your shot and take the courage to ask someone out. However, when a girl can see your financial (in)stability, your chances of a yes drop significantly. They say love don’t cost a thing but a nice date out to dinner does!

So I’m @ the bank waiting in line & the guy in front of me is spitting game to the teller, she’s laughing & he’s attractive so I can tell she’s digging it, he asks her if he can take her out and she says “with what? The whole $11.96 you got in your account?” SON, my chest ?

The Art Of The Bargain

One older sister took the liberty of sharing her brother’s legendary note to their mom after missing the school bus in the morning. We have to give him serious credit for his vocabulary usage, development, and even well-thought pro con list. Thankfully, the sister shared later that yes, their mother did indeed let him stay home. To bad we can’t do the same for going to work!

never forget the time my brother missed the bus and wrote my mom this note pic.twitter.com/ETqbzW7adN

Retweet For The Love Of Travel (And Our Bank Accounts)

Scrolling through travel accounts on Instagram can inspire us to do our own exploring. Nevertheless, one quick flight search and seeing the price of traveling to another country can be enough to set us back in our tracks. Instead of thinking of travel possibilities for the future, this Twitter user was reminiscing on the good ole days. You know, back when Pangea connected us all. Over 224k of us missed the old earth formation and hit retweet!

Why do airplane tickets have to be so expensive!! Having separate continents is so stupid retweet if you miss pangaea

“Number Neighbors” Trend Has Some Crazy Responses

6 August, 2019 by Taylor Swift

Social media is often criticized for actually making us less social, however we think this new trend is a clapback to the haters. People are now sending text messages and greeting their “Number Neighbors,” (a person who has a phone number one digit off from your own). Though complete strangers, often times the number neighbors have corresponded to create a great conversation, which Twitter users have been sharing online.

The Original Number Neighbors Tweet

The Number Neighbors trend all started when Twitter user, @ryanlavallee, decided to share to his followers about the one time he texted his number neighbor. In the end Ryan invited the new contact to hang but the stranger declined. Not cool number neighbor, not cool!

one time i tried texting my phone number neighbor and he sucked so much pic.twitter.com/M5p1oX84wV

— ryan (@ryanlavalleee) July 30, 2019

Number Neighbors Become Trending

The response to Ryan’s original tweet was astounding. He earned over 13.2k retweets and 127.6 likes. Not only did the tweet receive love, but it also inspired others to text and communicate with their own number neighbors. The following consist of some of the very best responses.

Baked Surprises From Number Neighbors

This was probably one of the most hospitable of number neighbors, who offered a yummy looking potato casserole to welcome her to the neighborhood.

my number neighbor was pretty cool and gave me a potato casserole ? pic.twitter.com/gdjpH4C83r

— flanesito (@frantaasticx_) August 2, 2019

A Family Fail

The point of this trend was to “meet” someone that you don’t know to maybe brighten their day and make a new friend. However this was not the case with this family fail, in which the siblings find out they are number neighbors… At least they’ll never forget the other sibling’s number!

— jenny dang (@jenndgm) August 2, 2019

Confusing Concept?

Some people were not amused at all by the number neighbors shenanigans. Yet the most mind-boggling part is how some people didn’t understand the concept, even when it was flat out explained to them…

A Pawsitively Good Time

For most people, the few back and forth messages didn’t have much meaning. However, some people actually made friends with their number neighbor. In this heartwarming exchange, the user even got a new dog from the process. Talk about making (paw) pals for life!

best decision i ever made was texting my number neighbor! you could make a new friend❤️ pic.twitter.com/uRttjNZuuV

— IG: @nickson.3 (@nicksonr_) August 5, 2019

A Presidential Surprise

Almost all of the number neighbors were random people. However, this lucky Twitter user was in for a true shock when he found out his number neighbor was none other than former President Barack Obama!

I think my number neighbor tops everyone else ? pic.twitter.com/GVTIcjtUB1

— Hooverr (@Hooverr) August 3, 2019

A Lesson In Love

While there were thousands of more messages to choose from, the ultimate takeaway came with this heartfelt exchange written by this number neighbor who shared his advice on love.

this is what i’m looking for from texting your number neighbor. meet a stranger, make a friend, learn something new & remind yourself that the people you interact with virtually and otherwise are people with valuable perspectives. sorry to y’all whose neighbor didn’t realize that https://t.co/zohLWgGvYB

We Are “Obsessed” With This Crying And Dancing TikTok

1 August, 2019 by Taylor Swift

There seems to be no end to the TikTok masterpieces that leave us in a state of both laughter and confusion. The most recent to hit the top of the charts and start a viral meme is a video by TikTok user @ReeseHardy_. In the video, the teen girl is crying, for reasons unknown, while performing a dance to the song “Obsessed” by Mariah Carey.

Behind The “Obsessed” Dance

While everyone (I repeat, EVERYONE) was left in a state of confusion as to why Reese is dancing while crying, we do have some answers to the dance itself. Turns out the dance wasn’t original, but rather part of the #obsessed dance challenge that was circling on TikTok at the time. One of the most ironic parts might be the fact many of the users who have participated in the challenge, weren’t old enough to even appreciate the song when it first released in 2009. We’re not complaining about the comeback though, this song was truly iconic.

The Crying Rise To Fame

people holding signs that say different social media activities, like share like and tweet, for the crying girl video.

Reese Hardy’s profile on TikTok was not famous before this video spread like wildfire. Since it’s publication on July 13th, the video has gained more than 1.6 million likes and thousands of comments. What made it grow even faster was the video’s share on the twitter account, “Cursed Tik Toks.” The tweet received over 134k likes and almost 30,000 retweets. More importantly, it started a meme caption contest for this hilarious yet uncomfortable video. The following are some of the best responses.

Struggling At The Club

We’ve all had at least one night out when we forced ourselves through the exhaustion to support our friends, yet would do just about anything to be back at home in the comfort of our beds.

Simba’s Sobbing Pride

In perfect timing with the recent release of The Lion King remake, this caption almost makes us feel guilty for laughing out loud at the poor cub’s loss.

Apology Unaccepted

Reese Hardy had zero intention of getting all the attention for this video. In fact, she apologized on her TikTok account for her crying and dancing display, saying “this started as a joke, i’m sorry guys.” Regardless, we’re glad she provided us the laughs this summer.

“Hot Girl Summer” Is The Unapologetic Meme We Needed

25 July, 2019 by Taylor Swift

With one of the worst heat waves in history due to global warming and a slew of political and social issues happening world wide, it’s reasonable to want summer 2019 to end ASAP. However, instead of getting down in the dumps about the heat, Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion came up with meme we NEEDED to get by this summer, “Hot Girl Summer.”

It’s a Hot girl summer ??‍♀️?

— HOT GIRL MEG (@theestallion) July 10, 2019

The Unapologetic Energy We Needed

While this seems like a pretty basic tweet, there’s a much deeper meaning that Megan shared with The Root. And yes, this catchphrase includes other genders too!

“It’s just basically about women — and men — just being unapologetically them, just having a good-a** time, hyping up your friends, doing you, not giving a damn about what nobody got to say about it.”

A Pop Culture Sensation

The theme of “Hot Girl Summer” took the pop culture world by storm. On Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat, people have been posting their brightest and funkiest outfits, sharing their biggest accomplishments, snapping pics from their vacations or even from the comforts of their own homes. Some celebrities like Miley Cyrus have even joined in with this post of her dancing in her house, doing her thang shamelessly.

Even major brands got in on the fun with their own tweets referring to the self-uplifting catchphrase.

— Wendy’s (@Wendys) July 9, 2019

Others have been coining the phrase as a hilarious expectations versus reality meme. While all of us would love to look flawless and strut in confidence, the heat often just causes a sweaty result.

“Hot Girl Summer” Anthems

As a rapper, it only made sense that Megan decided her term was deserving of musical accompaniment. She created the “Hot Girl Summer” playlist on Spotify, which to date already has more than 124,000 followers. The playlist features songs by Megan Thee Stallion, along with other powerhouse hip hop and R&B artists, like Rihanna, Beyoncé, Future, and Cardi B. Additionally, Megan said she plans to release an anthem later this summer to make us all really feel the vibes.

A Trademark In The Works

“Hot Girl Summer” took off so quickly, with thousands of shares, likes, and hashtag posts, that Megan has actually decided to try and trademark the term. She filed on July 10 with the hopes of selling t-shirts, athletic apparel, and other merchandise with the term.

— billboard (@billboard) July 23, 2019

The best part about the phrase is that it focuses on living your best life and being comfortable in your own skin. So while negative things might be happening in our lives, it’s important to stand tall and be proud of ourselves this summer, no regrets!

Giant Paper Airplane Made Of Falafel Wrappers Takes Flight

23 July, 2019 by Taylor Swift

Remember when you were younger and your parents told you not to play with your food? Nevertheless, this rule didn’t apply for the paper airplane competition held at the Los Angeles based company, Wondros. The company’s founder Jesse Dylan told employees they had a competition for who could make the best paper airplane out of recycled lunch wrappers from their “Falafel Fridays.”

folded paper airplane flying in the sky.

An All Out Airplane Creation

For anyone who has made airplanes in elementary school during recess, you know how difficult it can be to make just the perfect design for a nice “liftoff.” Given the material used, you’d think a small plane would be the standard creation. However, two employees in the editorial department decided to go all out, and were the winners of the competition with this massive design.

A Whole Lot Of Falafel

Looking at the design, it’s pretty incredible how the duo was able to construct an almost perfect replication of a commercial style airplane. When you compare the size of the plane to the people sending it off and catching it for landing, we can’t help but wonder… how much falafel was eaten in the process?

A plate full of falafel.

An Innovative Use Of Trash

Despite the laughable amount of falafel needed to have created this design, we do have to commend the company for their creative take on recycling the paper. With global warming being an increasing ongoing threat, it’s important to think of innovative ways to put our waste to use. This paper airplane is a fun, prime example.

a dumpster full of trash.

Competition In The Paper Airplane World

Despite being an extremely impressive paper aircraft, the largest paper airplane to date isn’t this Falafel-fueled creation, but an 800 pound (363 kg), 45 foot plane created by Arturo Valdenegro of Tucson. This design also happened to be a part of a contest. Engineers helped to create the final product for launch over the Arizona desert in 2012. Good thing they chose a dry climate– we can’t even begin to imagine how devastating that drenched disaster would be in the rain.

Although the Wondros design was nowhere close to that grand a scale, we have to give credit to the fact editors created this aircraft. Maybe it’s time for a career change!

A woman tracks down a car-thief and steals her car back

19 July, 2019 by Isabel Okhuijsen

We often wonder how we’ll react in case of emergency, will we run away? will we face the problem? This is a matter of our fight or flight response. This American woman definitely went for the “fight” part when she realized her car was stolen.

An empty parking spot

Danielle Reno of 34, resident in North Kansas, had parked her car in a car-park before picking up her daughter. When both of them got to the spot where Danielle had parked the car, there was nothing there. The car was gone, including her purse and mobile phone, which she had left inside the vehicle.

Taking matters into her own hands

Danielle reported to the authorities, but she’s apparently not one to just let things go. She decided to take matters into her own hands. The first thing she did was track the thieves down through the bank card movements, which she could find with her smartphone.

With some help from the staff

She also got a tip from the staff at a gas station: they told her they overheard the thief say they were headed to a certain restaurant. She headed over there and arrived a couple of minutes before the thief did.

Stealing her car back

Danielle saw a woman enter the restaurant with her purse in their hand, after which she left to steal back her car. She got into the vehicle and drove for a couple of miles before calling the police so they could arrest the thief. Danielle explains how the vehicle was still full of their stuff, like cigarettes and beer, but her own stuff was still inside.
