Green Shirt Guy Is The American Hero We Needed

There are certain situations that we find so uncomfortable and upsetting, that sometimes we don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Alex Kack of Tucson, Arizona, chose the former, as he burst into sidesplitting laughter during a City Council Meeting that Trump Supporters tried to disrupt. His response was so strong that he became an overnight Anti-Trump hero on social media, known as “Green Shirt Guy.”

Tucson Meets To Become A “Sanctuary City”

Tucson City Council called for a meeting to discuss putting the “Sanctuary City” measure on the city’s November ballot. This would make the city the first official immigrant-friendly city in all of Arizona, a contentious and relevant topic with the recent detainment camps and deportation raids in USA.

Trump Supporters Butt In

During the meeting, a woman and man wearing MAGA hats began protesting the “Sanctuary City” measure, spewing lots of anti-immigration opinions. Most people in the room began to boo the couple, and even began leaving the meeting. All the while, Alex Kack, who was wearing a green shirt and sitting near the couple, began to laugh uncontrollably, catching the camera man’s attention. He continued laughing as the two were escorted out by police to allow for the meeting to resume.

Twitter Applauds Green Shirt Guy

The infectious laughter of Kack turned into a trending hero on Twitter with the hashtag, #GreenShirtGuy. Even celebrities like Chrissy Teigen, Kathy Griffin, and Patton Oswalt shared their love for the reaction on Twitter. Kack’s laughter turned into the Gif and Meme we all needed, putting a positive spin to the moments when we want to just scream and yell at the ridiculousness of it all. Alex Kack is a local activist who works on various liberal causes, including Peoples Defense Initiative and Tucson Families Free and Together. He is working towards passing the “Sanctuary City” measure, for he believes “Families deserve to be together and all people deserve the right to feel safe.”

As for his nonstop laughter, Kack admits to laughing at the absurdity of the situation, for “Who has the time in their day to come into a public space just to spread hatred and negativity? Like honestly what happened that made them so ridiculous and hateful?”

Words well spoken. We are hoping the green shirt becomes the ultimate antithesis to all Red MAGA hats.

We Are “Obsessed” With This Crying And Dancing TikTok

There seems to be no end to the TikTok masterpieces that leave us in a state of both laughter and confusion. The most recent to hit the top of the charts and start a viral meme is a video by TikTok user @ReeseHardy_. In the video, the teen girl is crying, for reasons unknown, while performing a dance to the song “Obsessed” by Mariah Carey.

Behind The “Obsessed” Dance

While everyone (I repeat, EVERYONE) was left in a state of confusion as to why Reese is dancing while crying, we do have some answers to the dance itself. Turns out the dance wasn’t original, but rather part of the #obsessed dance challenge that was circling on TikTok at the time. One of the most ironic parts might be the fact many of the users who have participated in the challenge, weren’t old enough to even appreciate the song when it first released in 2009. We’re not complaining about the comeback though, this song was truly iconic.

Reese Hardy’s profile on TikTok was not famous before this video spread like wildfire. Since it’s publication on July 13th, the video has gained more than 1.6 million likes and thousands of comments. What made it grow even faster was the video’s share on the twitter account, “Cursed Tik Toks.” The tweet received over 134k likes and almost 30,000 retweets. This summer has brought us numerous new challenges, such as the #bottlecapchallenge. With the extreme heat breaking records in many countries, it’s time someone came up with a challenge that helped cool us off. The solution? The #WaterGunChallenge, which involves carrying two loaded water guns while walking around town, and then passing one to a random person on the street and see if their up for the battle.

Inspiration For The #WaterGunChallenge

The #WaterGunChallenge was created and filmed by three friends in Richmond, Virginia. The inspiration for the video and challenge was fairly simple. As stated on their Youtube channel, GET UP & GET IT;

ready to battle in the #watergunchallenge as he waits to see if the stranger will join him.

“It was mad hot. So we bought 2 water guns, filled them up, and walked up to people & tossed them one…just to see if they were down for a quick water gun fight….lets see what happened!”

A Slow Start For The #WaterGunChallenge

At first, not many people were down for the #WaterGunChallenge. The trio walked around many parts of the city, egging people to pick up the water gun, only to be denied. Individuals seemed to be skeptical and unamused, or simply incapable like the little dog on a walk. However, the tag team was determined to not give up. In fact, they RAN UP!

Running Up The Fun

Once the three guys started running to their potential challengers, it did seem to have a positive effect. People were more motivated to at least pick up the super soakers. It could have been out of pity due to the slight appearance of desperation on the faces of the trio… But regardless, once people started to pick up the water guns, the fun truly began!
