Why Are Vaccinated People Catching COVID-19 Again?

7 June, 2021 by Sahar Ajjab

Vaccinated people were supposed to be relieved from the fear of catching COVID-19. However, some cases show a new re-transmission of the virus, despite growing anti-bodies. So, how did this happen? First, it’s important to state that the number of cases is very low compared to the lives that were saved! Here is a breakthrough of what is currently happening with the COVID-19 vaccine.

Breakthrough Cases Are Very Rare

According to health researchers, these cases of vaccinated people catching coronavirus, are very rare. In fact, they conclude that ”only 9,245 breakthrough cases reported to the CDC, federal data show. That’s out of more than 95 million Americans who had been vaccinated at that point.”

Therefore, it’s safe to say that efficacy rate of 95% shown by both Moderna and Pfizer, is doing its job. As for the breakthrough cases, there exist many factors that could prevent the vaccine from being effective.

Reasons Why Vaccines Don’t Make You Immune

In the first place, people have different bodies and reactions. Although chances are very low, people can have such a genetically weak immunity, that vaccines just can’t breakthrough. In addition, certain factors like completing the doses, having them being administered the right way, and the age of the person can also play an important role. According to Bloomberg, it takes about two weeks for the body to build full immunity against the virus. Therefore, breakthroughs occurring in this time frame are not an indication about the vaccine itself.

Vaccination Is Still Saving Lives

That being said, the COVID-19 vaccines are saving many lives around the globe! In fact, life is slowly returning to normal post-pandemic. If anything, this supports the effectiveness and efficiency of the vaccination process.

To conclude, vaccinated people who catch COVID-19 again represent less than 1% of the general data. It’s due to several factors, some are biological, and others are purely human. However, the vaccine is important and is the only way towards the ”new normal.”

Leonardo DiCaprio Is The Luckiest Man Alive, And This Is Why

28 May, 2021 by Sahar Ajjab

The American actor Leonardo DiCaprio is one of our favs. His Hollywood career is legendary, to say the least. However, the Oscar winner may have just as interesting of a private life. In fact, he confessed to Ellen that he dodged death twice. Here is why Leonardo DiCaprio is the luckiest man ever.

Almost Died In A Plane Crash

While on a plane in Russia, the actor witnessed one of his scariest moments. Leonardo told Ellen that he was staring through the window, and just saw one of the engines explode. He recalls being a huge fireball and screaming ”What’s going on.?” Since he was in a plane full of Russians, no one really understood why the plane was shaking, and that they were going to die. Luckily, the captain managed to safely land the plane on the sea and Leo survived one of his worst 45 minutes in life. Well, after a second thought, maybe not the worst…

His Parachute Didn’t Open While Filming

Although being on a plane with just one engine sounds terrifying, imagine this. When Leonardo DiCaprio was on set, he tried to do the chute himself. Unfortunately, falling down, the first chute was stuck, and the monitor’s chute didn’t either. While the two were on a free-fall expecting to die, a miracle happened. The monitor was able to untangle Leo’s second chute, and both landed without major damage. This is definitely a sign that he is the luckiest man alive.

He Lived to Tell His Shark Survival Story

As if there couldn’t be worse, there comes the shark story. In fact, Leo is one of the known charitable celebs of Hollywood. He showed continuous support to NGO’s, and has an active role in protecting wildlife. During one of this charity visits, he got trapped in a cage with a gigantic great white shark. He told The Ellen Show that it was an experience that changed his perspective on life forever.

Other Celebs Who Cheated Death

Now that we’ve established that Leonardo DiCaprio is one hell of a lucky man, let’s take a look at some other celebs who also ”cheated death.” Eminem, Gerard Butler, Joaquin Phoenix survived magically some of the most tragic moments. Drug overdose, getting stuck between two waves which result din physical injuries, and even a car crash.

The Craziest Deep Fakes That Will Make You Question Reality

6 April, 2021 by Sahar Ajjab

Youtube

Since people began to learn to use photoshop properly we have seen photo montages of all kinds. From putting your face on your pet, to “riding” in a luxury car with Kanye West. However, manipulating videos has always been more complicated to do, since it’s hard to hide the truth on video tape. Or at least, that’s what we thought! Now, with the new technique of deep fakes, we are doomed. Do not believe it? We show you some deep fakes that seem so real you won’t even believe it!

Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr. And Tom Holland

Hollywood’s best-known action star Iron Man and Spider-Man are not without deep fakes. Although, luckily, for them, it is made clear that they are not their real faces. Yet, many people have fallen for it. And honestly, it can easily seem like it’s actually Cruise who is speaking in the interview.

Mark Zuckerberg And Donald Trump

The Ex-President (much to his regret) of the United States has also been “immortalized” in one of these deep fakes. In his case “being” Saul Goodman, the lawyer for Walter White and Jeese Pinkman in “Breaking Bad.” Worst? That hits home perfectly.

Mark Zuckerberg, on the other hand, the only time he was “edited” was through in a speech of his. Obviously, the work consisted of changing his words in the smoothest way! So, if we think about it, deep fakes are actually quite scary and can cause harm to others.

Jim Carrey, Will Smith And Stallone

Jim Carrey has incredible control of his face, as he has shown many, many times. However, this “imitation” of Jack Nicholson in “The Shining” is nothing but a deep fake. (Although we would’ve loved for it to be real.)

Will Smith, meanwhile, had the opportunity to be Neo in “The Matrix.” A role that, finally, would fall on Keanu Reeves. However, thanks to the magic of deep fakes we can see how a young Smith could have been the perfect fit of The Chosen One.

2 March, 2021 by Sahar Ajjab

One of the major things we missed the most last summer, were concerts and festivals. Although it’s perfectly understandable why they were canceled, 2021 could be different despite Coronavirus. Yes, some of our favorite festivals are returning this year, with new safety regulations and conditions.

Parklife, Boomtown and Eastern Electrics

London festivals are among the finest in the entire world. In fact, crowds gather from different parts of the UK and Europe, to enjoy major musical events such as Parklife, Boomtown or even Creamfields. Despite the strict UK restrictions, it’s expected that most of the London mass festivals will return between June and September 2021, according to some media reports.

Glasgow Festivals

Riverside Glasgow is a relatively small ‘mass festival‘, yet it attracts a lot of attention from electronic music fans. In fact, despite being ‘small’, it offers a unique experience to the visitors, allowing them to book a whole weekend of celebration. In addition, the organizers are reducing their capacity to only 50% of attendees this year, which makes it the most probable festival of summer 2021!

Primavera Sound

Europe’s largest and most celebrated festival is called Primavera Sound. Every year, this festival is hosted in a new destination. From the biggest metropolitan capitals like Barcelona, to small natural reserves like Unum, Albania (This year’s location.) Moreover, the organizers’ mass vaccination and testing process will allow this event to take place this summer despite coronavirus restrictions.

Tomorrowland

Most probably the biggest and most famous Electro music festival in the world. Thousands of people from all over the globe get together for an unforgettable weekend in the heart of Belgium. If your dream has always been attending this wonderful festival, this year could be the year. In fact, the organizers have announced that Tomorrowland will be celebrated between July 16-18 2021 & July23-25 2021. Besides bringing world class DJs to perform their best live-sets, they are also known for their show and entertainment additions that can go from housing and food to private afters.

8 January, 2021 by Sahar Ajjab

2021, a year we’ve waited for impatiently. Well, technically we were waiting for 2020 to end, with all the ”horrible” events it brought us. However, this New Year may not be exactly the best. In fact, it’s only the first week, and we already have things we need to seriously talk about.

If you remember, 2020 started with few strange events as well, and ended..well, we all know how it ended. First, there were the devastating fires in Australia, the heat wave, then a few shocking deaths, and eventually, a pandemic that changed our lives. This year though, some positive changes are in the horizon, while others are just shocking. Here is a recap of the major events that happened so far in 2021!

Of course, winter couldn’t have started better! While last year we enjoyed the lovely weather and sunshine(almost everywhere in the world,) it was a wake up call for us regarding climate change.

In 2021, this is still an important issue for the world, especially with the heavy rain and snowfall. In fact, this January, it has snowed in some big cities like Paris and Madrid for the first time in 10 years.

Temperature Plunges

Snowfall and rain are always a synonym to cold. Temperatures have reportedly plunged everywhere, reaching some of its lowest ever in some areas like Beijing in China. This is not alarming, but it does indicate why we should be taking more action for our planet, and investing in fighting climate change.

Donald Trump has been alleging that the US elections this past November were falsified. Of course, this led to many of his supporters to believe that Joe Biden is an ”unconstitutional” elected president. However, no one was expecting them to organize violent manifestations and riots. In fact, thousands of far-right supporters stormed the Capitol Hill building in DC, and temporarily paralyzed the congress session voting for Biden’s official election. This led to a rise of concern in the US, which will clearly have a challenging year ahead.

Bye-Bye Trump!

On January 20th, the United states as well as the rest of the world, will welcome a new presidency. As Democrat Joe Biden takes office, a lot of people will be relieved. In fact, the fall of Donald Trump has been viewed worldwide as the beginning of the end of the far-right wing’s reign in the world. Moreover, this change tarting in the ”most powerful” country, is expected to lead to a wave of changes in the rest of the world as well.

Weird New Year’s Traditions From Around The World

29 December, 2020 by Sahar Ajjab

New Year’s is always a symbol for festivities and celebrations. Besides saying goodbye to a year of your life, you are also welcoming a new one. Throughout history, several traditions actually emerged from these celebrations. Some were born in wars, others from religious beliefs. Either way, some of these traditions are so weird that they became viral. As we get ready to countdown for the end of this year, here is a countdown of the weird New Year’s traditions from different cultures.

Hungary

In Eastern Europe, several countries have a belief system based on previous spiritual events. Hungary for example, calls their New Year ”Silvester.” Actually, some of theirNew Year’s traditions ”include making a lot of noise to scare off demons and evil spirits.” In fact, doing laundry or sewing on New Year’s Eve is considered an offense to the spirits. Moreover, in other parts of the country, many believe that if your first visitor of the year is a male, then you’ll have a lucky year ahead. Also, washing your face in cold water with a red apple supposedly increases your chances of staying healthy.

Germany

Not much different from Hungary. The Germans are also known to have some weird New Year’s traditions. Although in Germany they welcome the New Year with Champagne and food (like the rest of us,) they also have some weird customs. In fact, since the 70’s, it has become a tradition to watch TV recording of an English movie filmed in Germany called Dinner for One. However, this us not the weirdest part. According to reports, German customs include ”dropping molten lead into cold water; the shape of the lead resulting in a prediction of the future. Also, a portion of the food eaten on New Year’s Eve is left on plates until after midnight to ensure plentiful food in the coming year.”

China

We all know that China have their own calendar, thus, their own New Year’s date. However, some of their traditions during the entire New Year’s week, (yes, it’s a whole week) are super strange. For example, in China, it’s forbidden to mention anything related to ”sickness” or ”death” on New Year’s Eve. In fact, both January 1st and the New Chinese Year are included. Additionally, they must do a thorough cleaning of the house to sweep out any bad luck from the old year, and then perform a lion dance to bring good luck.

Spain

Finally, Spanish New Year’s traditions are not out of the ordinary. However, they are weird because no one can explain the myth or early traditions that it came from. All Spanish people celebrate the night with their families, but only until midnight. After that, the tradition is to enjoy a night out with friends. The last 12 seconds before midnight, Spanish people bring out 12 grapes, and try to eat all of them before the clock hits midnight. It is very commonly believed that each grape represents a month, and if you can eat all of them, then you are to have great luck that year.
