A woman tracks down a car-thief and steals her car back

19 July, 2019 by Isabel Okhuijsen

We often wonder how we’ll react in case of emergency, will we run away? will we face the problem? This is a matter of our fight or flight response. This American woman definitely went for the “fight” part when she realized her car was stolen.

An empty parking spot

Danielle Reno of 34, resident in North Kansas, had parked her car in a car-park before picking up her daughter. When both of them got to the spot where Danielle had parked the car, there was nothing there. The car was gone, including her purse and mobile phone, which she had left inside the vehicle.

Taking matters into her own hands

Danielle reported to the authorities, but she’s apparently not one to just let things go. She decided to take matters into her own hands. The first thing she did was track the thieves down through the bank card movements, which she could find with her smartphone.

With some help from the staff

She also got a tip from the staff at a gas station: they told her they overheard the thief say they were headed to a certain restaurant. She headed over there and arrived a couple of minutes before the thief did.

Stealing her car back

Danielle saw a woman enter the restaurant with her purse in their hand, after which she left to steal back her car. She got into the vehicle and drove for a couple of miles before calling the police so they could arrest the thief. Danielle explains how the vehicle was still full of their stuff, like cigarettes and beer, but her own stuff was still inside.

FaceApp Creates Creepily Accurate Faces From The Future

18 July, 2019 by Taylor Swift

Getting old is inevitable, but many of us the past few days were shocked by some of the photos in our feeds of friends and family that seemed to have aged overnight. Rest assured, these old and wrinkly photos were not the result of some disease, but rather the FaceApp, an application that has filters to change the appearance of your face.

An Overnight Sensation

The most popular filter on the FaceApp, which has given rise to the #FaceAppChallenge, is the old filter. Take or upload a photo of yourself, and you can see the same image, but aged 20 years or more in the future. The hashtag has gotten over 100,000 posts on Instagram alone. Considering the amount of undereye bags and wrinkles some of us unfortunately had from the filter, we truly hope it is more than 20 years!

Should We Be Worried About FaceApp?

As with any viral app that involves using personal pictures and data, the FaceApp has come under recent criticism and controversy as well. On Monday, software developer Joshua Nozzi tweeted his concerns, stating “BE CAREFUL WITH FACEAPP – the face aging fad app. It immediately uploads your photos without asking, whether you chose one or not.”

However, Nozzi has since retracted his statement after the developers responded with a justifiable statement. They said FaceApp only uploads the photos that are selected to be used for editing. Given it’s a photo editing app, this seems perfectly reasonable and necessary.

Is FaceApp A Repeat of The Facebook Data Scandals?

Additionally, some users were worried about their data being transferred to Russia, where there were data privacy scandals recently connected to Facebook and Cambridge Analytica. However, FaceApp creators said the “user data is not transferred to Russia.”

Now you can sleep easy knowing your photos and data are safe, so that the stress and worry don’t make you actually age overnight! Or better yet, maybe it’s time to start investing in some good facial anti-aging cream?

Man runs into bear and is shocked by what happens next

12 July, 2019 by Isabel Okhuijsen

The scene takes places at some point in the Ozernaya river in Kamkatcha, Russia. A man was roaming around a lake when he suddenly ran into a bear. What happens next left everyone in awe.

Quietly exploring

It all started when the owner of the recording started filming his surroundings once he realized he was standing before a bear. The animal, fortunately, decided to ignore the man’s presence and simply carry on with his doings. That’s when it occurred.

A bear decides to go fishing

The creature seemed to decide to take a dip in the water. Or so the explorer thought. The bear’s real intentions would become clear just a moment later.

The video that became viral on Facebook shows us how the bear is able to extremely efficiently hunt down a fish with the impecable agility of its claws. It effortlessly reaches out for the fish after submerging in the water.

A natural born hunter

When the man starts filming the bear’s actions, the creature slowly goes underwater and seems to just want to take a dip. However, in just one second it quickly uses its paws to catch a fish. It all happens extremely quickly, and it has to be so as fish are very fast. But the bear has no problem catching its meal, as it swiftly uses its claws to get himself his next prey.

The video was published on Facebook and has widely been shared ever since. It now has over 4 million views, clearing leaving everyone in shock.

“Psychopathic” Ice Cream Crime Gone Viral

6 July, 2019 by Taylor Swift

There’s nothing better than eating a nice cold ice cream to beat the heat on sizzling summer days. That is, unless that ice cream has already been licked by a stranger!

A video this week went viral of a girl in a Texas grocery store going to the frozen section and opening a container of Blue Bell ice cream– only to lick it and then put it right back onto the shelf!

Horror For Blue Bell

The Blue Bell company, was reasonably ticked and decided to join forces with the local police. In a statement to WAFB, Blue Bell firmly said “This type of incident will not be tolerated.”

The company was additionally under fire for not protecting their lickable desserts with a seal, but the company assured it would be obvious if any of their products were hampered with.

Widespread Disgust

The video got thousands of retweets and responses on Twitter, with most people as thoroughly disgusted as we are. One user even went so far as to post the video with the comment, “What kinda psychopathic behavior is this?!” We couldn’t agree more.

The Police Double Down On The Ice Cream Crime

As stated previously, the police and local law enforcement officials got involved in trying to find the culprit of the ice cream crime. In Texas, this crime could have received a sentencing of up to 20 years and $10,000 in charges.

Close up of $100 dollar bills- to pay a hefty ice cream fine.

The police found themselves a difficult time finding the ice cream licker, and originally were catfished into thinking it was the wrong person. Yep, turns out catfishing happens even outside the dating world! However, the police finally found the culprit, but won’t press charges because she is a minor.

Preventing Further Frozen Food Attacks

While the strength and durability of the protective seal on Blue Bonnet’s ice cream leaves us dubious, a Wal Mart store in Corpus Christi took the matter into their own hands, guarding the frozen section with none other than… a water gun. That’s right. The most terrifying threat out there.

The Corpus Christi Walmart isn’t fooling around.

It is unclear who originated the official challenge, but several sources believe the viral trend could have started with Taekwondo champion Farabi Davletchin. Last week, he posted this video to Instagram with the caption #farakickschallenge, calling on Statham and other celebrities to take part.

Prince Ea Says “Stop Wasting Your Life” At Work

29 June, 2019 by Taylor Swift

Long time motivational speaker Prince Ea is at it again, this time with a video that has gotten over 2 million views in the past two weeks and thousands of shares on LinkedIn. The topic? “Stop wasting your life” in your unsatisfying work.

A Shocking Start

Prince Ea first appears in the video sitting in a hospital bed, asking the viewers directly, “Do you know what day of the week you are most likely to DIE from a HEART ATTACK?” To which we learn the unsettling data: Monday, between 8-9am. The same time most of us go to work.

Prince Ea then goes on to state this is no coincidence. The majority of our life is in fact spent at work. *Take a few deep breaths to let that sink in*

via GIPHY

Yes, the reality is the majority of us will be working for most of our lives. And yet, many of us are in jobs that we hate, with the assumption that when we fulfill a certain accomplishment, like getting married or getting a raise, “and then” we will be happy and satisfied with our lives.

“And Then” What?

Prince Ea is here to say that “and then” may never come, or worse, it comes and you are STILL not happy. And then what? You realize you have wasted your life in the work place, not achieving your real goals nor putting your life before work.

Harvard Can Confirm: Happiness Is Key At Work

Woman and Man Happy at Work.

Prince Ea brings up some very interesting points. As a society we are constantly telling each other to shoot for a good “work life balance,” but that phrase always starts with work. This is primarily for monetary reasons for many people, however a study at Harvard found that those who are happy with their jobs, actually earn more money. Now that’s what I call a profitable proposition!

This full seven minute video is worth the watch, if only to help change your perspective about the monotony of your daily life and help push you to do the things that bring you real happiness.
